Tara in Ireland is Europe’s largest zinc mine and also one of the largest in a global comparison. Since mining began in 1977, more than 85 million tonnes of ore have been extracted. Boliden acquired the mine in 2004.
In order to provide a secure location against intruders and mammals, Boliden required Mulligan Fencing to remove and re-Install steel post and chainlink fence at the Tailings Pond site, just outside Navan.
The fence was 2.4mtr high with 3 rows of line wire and 1.8mtr galvanised Chainlink mesh attached. Also attached 3 strands of 1.6mm high tension barbed wire to designated areas.
